My Dad taught me to fish when I was seven, fishing the local river Nene,  Gudgeon bashing! That was well over forty years ago!

I progressed to match fishing with my Dad in my early teens and concentrated on this for approximately 5 years. It was during this time that I developed a keen interest in the resident river Carp, having observed lots of them, hooking a few and losing most due to the light match tackle.

I decided to start fishing for Carp properly in the mid 80’s, concentrating on the river and on local small lakes known to hold the odd double figure carp.  I managed to catch my first double in 1986 and my first twenty in 1988.

I have now been fishing for carp for over 30 years, both in the UK and abroad. During this time, I have managed to bank countless numbers of carp, many being 40lb+ to over the 50lb mark. I topped this with a new PB in March 2015, a fabulous Mirror Carp weighing in at 64lb, caught on a “Mistral Coconut Ice” 15mm pop up!

In recent years I have also targeted other fish species, as well as Carp in my angling quests. I have caught specimen sized Barbel to 14lb+, Chub to 7lb+, Bream to 11lb+, Tench to 8lb+,  Roach to 3lb+ and Perch to 4lb.

I have been using Mistral baits for well over 20 years and can honestly say, without doubt, that they have played a major part in my angling success.

I have been very pleased to be part of the Mistral Team and have had some great fishing captures whilst field testing their new products.
