Mistral Baits Team - Roy Wyeth

I am married with 2 kids – maybe just like the majority of you. This curtails my fishing somewhat but I’m sure you know the story. I am an electrical contracts manager too so family and work do come first.

I started to fish at the early age of 5 but some 8 or so years later I starting fishing for carp on the Yateley complex. A few years later saw me on a few local waters then Burghfield jumped out at me. Believe me going from a 6 acre estate lake to a 96 acre pit made the mind boggle but I loved it. I walked its banks so many times before I wet a line but it paid off handsomely. On my very forst session I bagged a 30lb common which is now known as the ‘Burghfield Common’. Not a bad start but there was a bigger one which unfortunately was found dead before I stuck a hook in it. I carried on here and took many other fish some of which are famous now like ‘Cut Tail’. Dorchester beckoned and my best catch there was a brace at 35:04 and 31:08, a common and a mirror respectively.

Wraysbury next and what a place it was. I met Bill Dawson here and we became friends and still are to this day. It certainly was a difficult water but I had a few good ones here too the best being Mallins at 43:04 plus the Hoover at 35:00.A few of the original carp died so it was time to move on again.

I fished Dinton’s on and off since the mid 1990’s catching quite a few of the known biggies such as Bernies, the Twin, Astra, the Dustbin and many good commons including this fabulous fish of 38:04 caught on the Bait with No Name.

Now I’m back on Yateley too and very confident about getting amongst a few more biggies in the near future.
