15mm and 20mm i40 boilesi40 - The beginning

Through a mutual friend I heard that Tim Wagner wanted to speak to me regarding the Mistral Team. He is a noted big fish angler and one who commands respect in my book so a meeting was set up. Tim mentioned that the Mistral ethos of NOT paying our consultants was one of the major factors in him having an interest in us. Not that he wouldn’t jump at a wad of tenners but he realised that we get the truth from our team and they tell the truth to you.

Tim kindly visited the factory and laid forward his plans. He had an idea for a boilie that was a fish friendly, and fishmeal free offering that he knew would be ideal for his fishing. When he mentioned a few ingredients my mind flew back to the early 1990’s and some of our base mixes available then. We made a bait between us that everybody liked first time. The second try was even better and so on.

Most of it consists of birdfood and 3 types of nuts but there is this inherent sweetness with the slightest touch of spice that sets this bait apart. It has a smell akin to a sweet nutty toffee and the taste of everything in it. Spicy Hob Hobs is my description and maybe it is not too far out.

Now to the fishing – Fat Bloke was first to try it, had 2 runs and whacked out a nice 20 and a 30 during the weekend. First blood and very pleasing because no other fish came out that weekend plus he only had enough bait to use on one rod. Then Tim caught and so on and so on. My fishing is done primarily overnight and mid week so if the fish are having it in the daylight I’m stuffed – however they weren’t always.
