For the last couple of years I have been using Mistral Baits and catching some great fish.
For the past 20 years I have been working in Fisheries Management with the Environment Agency and its predecessors. I am currently working from Kettering In the Fisheries Recreation and Biodiversity department, (FRB for short!) looking after the interests of various fishing clubs and organisations in the Welland and Nene districts.
I grew up fishing in and around The St Ives area, both on the Ouse and the local gravel pits, my first loves were tench and pike, but progressed onto carp after joining my first syndicate at Wimblington in the fens, during 1986 whilst working as Assistant Fishery Manager for the then 'Amey Roadstone Corporation' (ARC)... Happy Days!
My fishing progressed and became more of a way of life during the warmer months, still fishing at St Ives where I caught the Lady at 51+ in between trips to many other venues including Ashmere (Ron Middletons place at Earith) Great Linford Lakes, A North Herts Club water, Stanwick Lakes and Ferry Lagoon at Fen Drayton.
I am a consultant for Wychwood Tackle, and often appear in features for magazines UK Carp and Crafty Carper. This year, I have finally managed to achieve my dream of running my own fishery after taking over The St Ives Complex.
So, with one thing and another; the day job, fishing, fishery management, and drumming in a local covers band, this year should turn out to be rather busy, lets hope I leave enough time to bank a few whackers as well!!
