I've been a keen angler since I was a child and my progression from general fishing on the rivers for anything that swims to specialising has taken me far into the carp scene in the last 15 to 20 years. I fish home and abroad mostly for carp and have been very lucky with a good run of bigger fish into and beyond the 50lb bracket. In my eyes there is nothing more satisfying than slipping the net under a huge beautiful carp in the early morning mist, especially if it might just bust another pb! I've had my share of luck off the lakes by meeting and becoming friends with some household names, with their many years experience and being involved with design and development of equipment, bait and all the goodies we now take for granted its amazed me how open and helpful they are. I love our sport as most of you do and to a degree can't get enough of it, it keeps me sane in this increasingly mental world.

My most memorable session to date was a 48hour weekender at a Yateley syndicate in June 2010. It was a stinking hot summer weekend and i didn't really expect too much action, but did know where the carp would hang out so always had a chance of a bite. High pressure, screaming hot sun you know the rest, well it ended with 6x different 30lb plus carp, four of which were upper thirties and a stunning 29lb linear, it was one of those red letter days that DO come along from time to time. I think a bit of hard work and willingness and a good bait will always get you bites, which is why I'm over the moon to now be kindly sponsored by Mistral Baits and really looking forward to overloading the office computer with catch reports.

See you on the bank some time soon.
